Nationwide lumpy skin disease vaccine subsidy

The Livestock and Livestock Products Board of Namibia (LLPBN) has announced a nationwide subsidy programme aimed at supporting cattle producers with the vaccination of animals against lumpy skin disease (LSD).

According to the LLPBN, the subsidy will cover 15% of the cost of approved LSD vaccines and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to limited funding. The programme will take effect from 1 February 2026 and applies to cattle producers across the country.

To qualify, producers must be registered with the LLPBN and purchase approved LSD vaccines. Claimants are required to retain original receipts or certified copies, vaccinate their cattle, and obt

ain an official LSD vaccination certificate from the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS). A bank confirmation letter, not older than six months, must also accompany the application.

The board stated that claims will be capped at 350 vaccine doses per producer per subsidy period. All submissions will be subject to verification, including the cross-checking of receipts against the national herd database, before any payment is processed.

Completed applications may be submitted electronically via email or delivered as hard copies to the LLPBN head office in Windhoek, at the FAN Meat NamLITS Helpdesk. The application form is available for download from the LLPBN website.

The LLPBN said the subsidy programme is intended to assist producers in managing disease risks while supporting national efforts to protect cattle health and maintain productivity in the livestock sector. Producers seeking further information can contact the board via WhatsApp or email, as provided in the official notice.
