One more AGOA year
Namibia has been granted temporary relief after the United States reauthorised the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) until 31 December 2026, with retroactive effect to 30 September 2025.
The Office of the United States Trade Representative announced on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, that President Donald Trump had signed the reauthorisation into law.
US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer said the renewed programme must “demand more from our trading partners” while delivering greater market access for US businesses, and be modernised to align with President Trump’s America First Trade Policy.
The legislation w
ill also introduce changes to the United States’ Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Greer said.
